SnapAlert ("we", "us", "the Service") is a Telegram bot that monitors webpages for visual changes using screenshot comparison. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We keep it short and honest.

What We Collect

We collect only the data necessary to provide the monitoring service:

From your Telegram account

  • Telegram user ID (numeric identifier assigned by Telegram)
  • Display name (first name, last name) and username
  • Language preference

From your monitoring activity

  • URLs you submit for monitoring
  • Screenshots of those pages (captured automatically)
  • Custom monitoring instructions you provide (optional)
  • Change detection history and notification delivery status

On the landing page

We use Umami, a self-hosted, cookie-free analytics tool, to understand how visitors interact with this website. Umami does not collect personal data, does not use cookies, and does not track you across sites. All analytics data stays on our own servers.

How We Use Your Data

  • To take screenshots of URLs you submit and detect visual changes
  • To send you Telegram notifications when changes are detected
  • To generate AI-powered summaries of what changed on the page
  • To enforce usage limits (URLs per user, checks per month)

Third-Party Services

To provide screenshot comparison and change analysis, we send page screenshots to:

  • Google Gemini API — for AI-based visual change detection and summary generation
  • OpenAI API — as an alternative AI provider for change analysis
  • ScrapingBee / Zyte — optional cloud screenshot services used as fallbacks when local capture is unavailable

Only screenshots of the monitored pages are sent to these services — not your personal data. We do not sell or share your personal information with anyone.

Data Storage

All data is stored in a PostgreSQL database on our servers. Screenshots are stored as binary data in the database. We do not use third-party data warehouses or cloud storage for your personal data.

Cookies

We do not use cookies. The Telegram bot operates entirely through the Telegram API. The landing page uses Umami analytics which is cookie-free by design.

Your Rights

You can at any time:

  • Request a copy of all data we store about you
  • Request deletion of your account and all associated data
  • Stop monitoring by removing URLs or blocking the bot on Telegram
